Last week I broke my arm just below my shoulder, very painful as you can imagine, so I took some time for research on vintage music looking for some comfort and to deal with the stress it caused. In the old Chambonchard archive I found many French chansons by Tino Rossi. I was really flabbergasted about the popularity all over the world of this great French-Corsican tenor before and even after the Second World War. The book, An Anthology of Francophone Singers from A to Z: "Singing in French" explained that Tino Rossi recorded more than 1300 songs, appeared in over 30 films and sold about 800 million records. This makes him probably the greatest artist ever measured by commercial success. But above all he was known as a beloved person singing simple songs about happiness in love, with a voice from heaven.
